On 30th October 2014, MOHAN Foundation Chandigarh conducted an awareness session for the school students of Government Model Senior Secondary School Sector-21, Chandigarh under the “Student Awareness Campaign” which started on, to cover all the students of government schools in Chandigarh. The Principal and vice Principal of the School helped us a lot in arraigning the session and they supports the cause of organ donation. Today was the third day of the session of the one week programme that is going on, in that particular school.
Around 60 students participated in the program and they were from the arts and vocational stream of 12th standard and were given a presentation on the phenomenon of Brain Death and the process of organ donation through a presentation and the videos by the Program Coordinator Nilakshi. The myths and misconception associated with organ donation were also discussed and got cleared. The Students asked very interesting question regarding tissue and organ donation. The donor cards were shown to them.
Around 100 were taken to the school out of which the students picked up 57 cards (students from the previous session also came and asked for the cards) for their parents and elder brothers and sisters. They promised on to spread the word around.
