Organ Donation Awareness Session at Transport Office

  MOHAN Foundation was invited by Dr. D. T. Powar, Regional Transport Officer, Giripeth, Nagpur to conduct an awareness session on organ donation for drivers who apply for vehicle registration and driving license on 8 November 2016.

  Mr. Bulu Behera Transplant coordinator  MOHAN Foundation,  delivered a talk on Organ donation. In his talk he explained the following points:-

  • What is Organ Donation, the need for donation & who can donate organs.
  • Which organs can be donated.

  • Natural death, brain death and coma.

  • About THO Act, ZTCC Nagpur and MOHAN Foundation.  
  • Kidney transplant centres in Nagpur.
  • Examples of organ donors in Nagpur.
  • Importance of Donor card.
  • Helpline number and website.

   

  It was a very interactive session. Approximately 20 drivers were present during the talk. 4 drivers picked a donor card.

   

  The Drivers asked the following questions:-

  How many people signed consent form in Nagpur?

  How many deceased donation happen in Nagpur?

  Who is the main person who gives consent for donation after my death?
