MOHAN Foundation was invited for an awareness program in R. R. Donnelley, Teynampet on 23rd December 2016. Dr. Hemal Kanvinde, Quality Assurance Officer and Mr. Siva Shankar represented MOHAN Foundation to explain the concept of organ donation.
First and foremost a video was played to the 200 staff as audience that gave a clear picture about the noble cause from the point of view of the recipient. It showed that a single donor can help 8 other persons.
After that PowerPoint Presentation was presented by Mr. Siva Shankar for the audience to get a better idea. He touched upon the need for donation, who and when and how donation happens and explained brain death.
Followed by that there was Q & A session for which Dr. Hemal Kanvinde cleared all the doubts very convincingly. The queries were about the actual process of pledging and organ donation in hospital. The organ allocation criteria and system of organ sharing and wait listing were also discussed.
And finally the donor cards were issued to the people to pledge their organs which show that they support organ donation. 10 staff members registered as donors and picked a donor card.
