Organ Donation Awareness Program in Hindustan College of Arts And Science- Chennai

  •             The social work department of Hindustan college of Arts and Science Padur, invited MOHAN Foundation to conduct an awareness program on organ donation to the students of social work and other discipline. The social work department student, Ms. Priya of Hindustan College who is currently doing her  field work in MOHAN foundation took the initiative to conduct the program in her college. Dr hemal Kanvinde and mr Ruban Victor represented MOHAN Foundation.

    The session started with the welcome speech by Ms. Sakthi Prabha H.O.D of social work dept of Hindustan College. Dr. Hemal addressed the gathering and thanked the institution for promoting the good cause of organ donation. Mr. Ruban gave a talk  on the concepts of organ donation. The presentation briefly discussed the following points:  the difference between cardiac death and brain death, the organ which can be donated after cardiac death and brain death. the importance of blood donation how it helps people in need, value to wearing a helmet, need for organs, the legal and ethical aspects of organ donation and the process of pledging to organs.   

    The session highlighted how they can be part of this noble cause by pledging the organ and how it can help other in joining the cause.

    70 students attended the session and 40 of them picked a donor card.
