National College of Arts and Science, Trivandrum supports Organ Donation

  On 3^rd July 2017, National College of Arts and Science, Trivandrum, Kerala conducted an awareness programme on Organ Donation for 20 of their students. This programme was organized by Ms. Kripa, MSW Student of Loyola College of Arts and Science, as a part for her research requirement.

  The programme began with a welcome address by a cadet. Ms. S. Kavitha of MOHAN Foundation. spoke about the Concepts of Organ Donation. The following topics were covered during the talk:

  • Activities of MOHAN Foundation across the country to strengthen the Deceased Organ Donation programme
  • Types of Organ Donation - Live and Deceased Donation
  • Difference between Brain death and Coma
  • Importance of Donor card and consent from the family
  • Tissues and organs that can be donated
  • Transplant Coordinators Training Programme
  • Helpline Number and website as source of information

  All students and faculty attended the awareness session and supported organ donation by pledging their organ through signing donor card.
