NCC Cadets of Women’s Christian College motivate fellow students to pledge for organ donation

  • The Women’s Christian College’s NCC wing   initiated a organ donation drive with a seminar on organ and tissue donation under the leadership of Lt. A.Selva Malathi, Associate NCC Officer  of the college.  The speakers at the seminar were Dr.P. Nellaiapper  from the Department of Plastic Surgery, Stanley Medical College, Capt G. N. Venkat Rajaram, President, Lions Club, Mr Subramaniam, C U Shah Eye Bank and Dr. Hemal Kanvinde, MOHAN Foundation.

     

    The seminar was held in the auditorium on 17th December 2014. Around 80 students attended the seminar. Cadets from MCC College and D G Vaishnav College were present.  All the speakers spoke about the value and need of organ donation.  The cadets were made to understand the process of organ donation and given examples of donors and recipients. In this manner they were given enough knowledge  so that they could speak to  their friends about the cause.

     

    After the seminar, a registration desk was set up for cornea and organ donation. This desk had donor cards, registration forms, posters and banner. There was an overwhelming response to the drive,  Around 450 young girls took the pledge to donate organs.
