Ms Pallavi Kumar invited to moderate a panel discussion at ISCCM conference in Ahmedabad

  • On October 8, 2017, MOHAN Foundation was invited to participate in "Organ Donation: A gift of Life", an event organized by Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine (ISCCM) at Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry Auditorium, Ahmedabad. The event was organised by Ahmedabad chapter of Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine to mark the celebration of its foundation day on October 8.

     

    Ms. Pallavi Kumar, Executive Director, MOHAN Foundation, Delhi-NCR was invited by Dr Manoj Singh (Past President, ISCCM) and Dr Anish Joshi (Secretary, ISCCM) to moderate a panel discussion. The panelists included Dr. Hitesh Chavda from Sterling Hospital, Dr. Himanshu Patel from IKDRC Hospital, Dr. Dhaval Nayak from CIMS Hospital, Dr. Chirag Desai from Apollo Hospital, Dr. Rohit Joshi, President Rotary Club from Aarna Hospital and Ms. Bhavna Chabariya from Shatayu, an NGO working in the field of organ donation in Ahmedabad. The panel discussed a variety of issues related to organ donation such as sharing of organs, medico legal cases, green corridors, NTORC's, brain death certification and maintenance etc.

     

    The discussion and questions put forth by the audience highlighted the need for a state regulatory body such as SOTTO to look into a registry that will ensure a fair and equitable distribution of organs and also avoid any wastage of organs. It was agreed by all present that such a body will regulate the deceased organ donation and transplantation program in Gujarat and streamline processes.
