More than 100 organ donor pledges at Radhika Tai Pandava College of Engineering, Nagpur

  • Radhika Tai Pandava College of Engineering, Nagpur invited MOHAN Foundation on 20.09.2014 to give  an Awareness talk on Organ donation for their students as well as staff. It was an enthusiastic group in the auditorium.

     

    The talk was organized by Dr. Prashant S Langeewar, Vice-Principal of the college. Dr. Ravi Wankhede, delivered talk on Deceased Organ Donation.  He explained the following points:  

     

    • Importance and need of organ donation.
    • Types of donations – live and deceased donation.
    • Difference between Natural Death, Coma and Brain Death.
    • Organs and tissues that can be donated in cardiac death and brain death.
    • Eye donation.
    • Preservation time of organs.
    • Importance of Donor card, helpline number and website.
    • MOHAN Foundation activities.

     

     The participants raised the following queries about Organ Donation after the talk:

    •  
      • Can a person suffering from some disease donate liver?
      • What is pancreas? 
      • After death what is the time duration of Eye donation?

    Nearly 200 students attended the session. At the end of the session Mr. Bulu Behera distributed information brochures and 114 students as well as staff signed the pledge form and picked up the donor cards.
