Marketing a Social Cause, a topic at Management School event at IIT Madras

  • Samanvay 2016 an  inter college event was organized by students of Department of Management Studies (DoMS),  IIT Madras during October 14-16, 2016. In addition to the eight Samanvay inter B-School competition events, Samanvay also organized lectures by eminent professionals.

     

    One of the events was a marketing event, Buzzar which was held on Sunday, 16th October 2016 at 9am to 1pm in the lecture hall of the department.  The topics for Marketing were – Organ Donation, App for students, Camel Milk, Waste Management. Each team received a problem statement 48 hours before the final, 2 finalist teams were selected based on their plan. These teams were asked to speak on their marketing and advertisement campaigns for the topic. MOHAN Foundation was invited to the Marketing event to give their inputs on Organ donation. Dr. Hemal Kanvinde, Q & A Officer represented MOHAN Foundation.  35 students attended the event.  

     

    The judges were Mr. G. Prem (Asst General Manager-Marketing Services)  and  Prof. M. Geetha (faculty at DoMS, IIT Madras)

    The finalists were from: 
    1. Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Bangalore        
    2. Bharathidasan Institute of Management, Trichy
    3. Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune

    4. Department of Management Studies, IIT Madras
    5. Indian Institute of Management, Indore (Mumbai campus) 

    6. N. L. Dalmia Institute of Management Studies and Research, Mumbai

     

    The Team from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Bangalore campus represented by Ms. Archita Aggarwal and Mr. Anant Zalpuri won the third prize for their Plan on Organ Donation.  Their main focus was on the Communication of the concept of Brain Death and Organ Donation.  

    Discussion was on the misconceptions on organ donation, organ allocation, public and private hospital participation in the cause, appreciation of donor families and funding for NGOs. Dr. Hemal spoke on the simplicity of registering as a donor and clarified doubts of the teams.

    MOHAN Foundation thanks the DOMS IIT Madras for including Organ donation as a topic and Ms Prerana Gautam for  the invitation.
