Madurai Police Recruitment School organizes a orientation on Role of Investigating Officer in Deceased Organ Donation

  • MOHAN Foundation was invited for an awareness program on organ donation by Police Recruitment School (PRS), Madurai on 20th April 2017 at 2:30pm. It was for the fourth batch in the school. All the participants were Sub Inspectors of various Police Stations in Madurai.

    Mrs. Sujatha Suriyamoorthi, Manger Information Services, MOHAN Foundation explained about the basic Role of Police in Organ Donation. The participants were really very eager to know about the importance of organ donation. The police had some idea about organ donation.  And they could answer the questions asked prior to the start of the program.

    Then Mr. Venkatesh, Transplant Coordinator, Rajaji Government Hospital, explained about the general information on organ donation. The main facts discussed were

    1. Organs that can be donated
    2. What is Brain Death
    3. Organs and tissue that can be donated at the time of Brain Death and Cardiac Death.

    The topics were discussed properly by Mr. Venkatesh and Mrs. Sujatha Suriyamoorthi so that they can understand it easily. Around 30 Police Sub Inspectors attended the program and all of them accepted to become donors and picked a donor card. They pledged to support organ donation.

    PRS  Madurai, has a plan to give regular awareness program to their upcoming batch so that everyone will know about this social cause.
