MOHAN Foundation talks about Organ donation to members of Lions Club, Nagpur

  • On 8th October, 2014 an awareness program on organ donation was organized for the members of Lions Club, at Mangalavari Complex, Sadar, Nagpur. This program was organized by T. P. Gupta, president of Lions Club. Dr.  Ravi Wankhede of MOHAN Foundation Nagpur, conducted the session with the help of a PowerPoint presentation. The slides covered the topics underlying organ donation in detail including the types of donation, conditions in which organs can be donated, brain death etc.

     

    The phenomenon of brain stem death was explained in detail with the help of a short video. The talk was very interactive because the members had some idea of the concept and wanted to clear their doubts.

     

     Dr. Wankhede explained about the role of a transplant coordinator and his/her importance in the hospital setting, for organ donation to take place.  He also touched upon other activities like training program, CMEs CNEs, public awareness drive, Online registry form and a helpline etc.

     

    Question asked by participants:

          1) What is the process of Eye donation?

          2) What is the process of skin donation?

    At the end of the discussion members picked the pledge forms and said after discussing with family  they may take the pledge. 25 members attended the program.
