MOHAN Foundation conducts awareness session on organ donation in Adarsh Public School, New Delhi

  • On 13th September 2014 a public awareness session on organ donation was conducted by MOHAN Foundation in Adarsh Public School, Vikaspuri, New Delhi in collaboration with the Rotaract club of New Delhi with Interact Club of Adarsh Public School. The Interact Club is Rotary's premiere service club for youth, ages twelve to eighteen. Interact members complete at least two community service projects, one of which furthers international understanding and goodwill.

     

    The event was held in the auditorium of the school and was attended by the school's interact club members, rotarians and also some of the parents of the students of the school.

     

    The session started at 11:30 am and saw a turnout of 40 people. Mr. Shailesh PRO, Interact Club of Adarsh Public School began the proceedings by introducing MOHAN Foundation and its mission. He also gave a brief introduction about MOHAN Foundation's representatives and handed over the dais to Dr Muneet. She carried forward the session with a powerpoint presentation. She kept the session interactive, intermittently encouraging the participants to share their views.

     

    A video was also shown to further elaborate upon the concept of brain death. The THO Act was briefly explained followed by which Deepa addressed the myths and facts underlying the cause.

     

    At the end of the session, participants came up with a number of queries which were dealt effectively. 75 donor cards were picked up. Mr Prashant Sahgal Director, Adarsh Public School, a rotarian himself expressed a wish to conduct further such sessions for the other educational institutions under his supervision.
