  • MOHAN Foundation conducted its second session of awareness talks for auto drivers in Chennai on October 13th 2018. Mr Amal Antony Augustian, Intern from MMM College of Health Sciences approached auto drivers in the Mogappair East locality. Information brochures, green ribbons and donor cards were distributed among them. Mr Amal also answered questions related to organ donation.

Some of the queries that drivers asked were:

    • How could I donate my whole body after death?
    • How does the organ donation process after death work?
    • Is MOHAN Foundation a Hospital?
    • If I am an alcoholic, would I be able to donate organs after my death?

Stickers that contain the helpline number of MOHAN Foundation were also distributed to them. On the second day there were 9 drivers who registered as donors and collected donor cards; 4 of them agreed to support the cause by pasting the stickers on the back of their auto rickshaws.

All the drivers were gifted a ‘Proud to be an Organ Donor’ badge for supporting this social cause. MOHAN Foundation thanks the auto drivers for participating in this initiative.

The National Organ Donation Tollfree HelpLine- 1800 103 7100, is operational under the 'Gift Hope, Gift Life' project supported by the SBI Foundation and SBI DFHI Limited.
