MOHAN Foundation conducts an Organ Donation talk at Transport office in Nagpur

  • Mr. Sharad Jighkar from the Regional Transport Office, Giripeth, Nagpur invited MOHAN Foundation to conduct an awareness session on organ donation for drivers in their training hall on 10th November 2017. This session was for drivers who apply for vehicle registration and driving license.

    Mr. Bulu Behera, Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation delivered a talk on Organ Donation. In his talk, he explained the following points:-

     

    • What is Organ Donation and the Law
    • Who can donate organs
    • Types of organ donors
    • Brain Death, Natural Death and Coma
    • Myths related to Organ donation
    • Deceased donation case in Nagpur
    • Kidney transplant hospitals in Nagpur
    • Importance of a Donor Card, Helpline number and website

     

    It was a very interactive session. 50 drivers attended the session. 5 drivers signed the consent form and took donor cards.

    The drivers asked the following questions:-

    • What is the difference between organs and tissues?
    • What is the difference between natural death and brain death?
    • Why is there a need for organ donation?
