MOHAN Foundation conducts a session on ‘Transplant act’ at the Urolegacon Conference

  • The Urological Society of India (USI) organized a two day conference ‘Urolegacon’ - Medico Legal conclave from Urologist's perspective on 2nd and 3rd December 2017 at Hotel Savera, Chennai. The conference was organized to address the peripheral issues in practice and non-academic aspects of Urology. The conference was attended by around 250 urologists across the country.

     

    MOHAN Foundation was invited as a collaborating partner to conduct a session on “Transplant act” at the conference. The session had a series of talks addressed by eminent faculty on various aspects of Transplant Law.

    • Transplantation of Human Organs (THO) Act – An Overview: Dr. Sumana Navin, Course Director, MOHAN Foundation
    • Responsibilities of a Transplant Surgeon: Dr. Ajay Oswal
    • Misuse of “Love & affection” clause in THO Act: Dr. J. Amalorpavanathan, Former Member Secretary, Transplant Authority of Tamil Nadu (TRANSTAN)
    • What went wrong in recent organ scandals and Shortcomings of THO Act: Dr. Sunil Shroff, Managing Trustee, MOHAN Foundation
    • Identifying discrepancies in submitted documents of living donations: Sujatha Suriyamoorthi, Manager-Information Systems, MOHAN Foundation

     

    The session concluded with a panel discussion moderated by Dr. Shroff, which had doctors, a lawyer and a police officer as panelists.
