MOHAN Foundation conducts Seminar on Organ Donation & Brain Death Certification at SPS Hospital, Ludhiana

  • MOHAN Foundation was invited to conduct a Seminar on Organ Donation & Brain Death Certification at SPS Hospital, Ludhiana formerly Apollo Hospital on 9th September 2016. The hospital has already conducted around 90 LDRT and 1 LDLT. They have now applied for approval of BD committee to initiate Cadaver Donations and Transplants. It’s an over 320 bed and very well equipped hospital with an excellent Dialysis Centre and seven, well equipped Operation Theatres.

     

    The program was presided over and attended in full by their Managing Director, S. Jugdiep Singh Ji and members of faculty, Nurses and paramedical staff. Mr. Singh in his opening remarks gave a message of empathy towards end stage organ failure patients and need to promote cadaver donations because of the huge gap between supply and demand.

     

    Mr. Sudhir Dewan conducted two sessions on Organ Donation Scenario in India and Brain Death Certification. Entire process of medical and legal involvement in Brain Death Certification was explained.

     

    Ms. Deepika Arora gave a presentation on Public Education and the major sources to be tapped for OD Awareness.

     

    Dr. Puneet Chopra gave a presentation on Maintenance of Brain Dead Patients.

     

    Program ended with humble worded thanks by S. Jugdiep Singh, M.D. thanking MOHAN Foundation for the program and hoping a long term association in making Cadaver Donations a success story at SPS Hospital and Ludhiana.
