  • MOHAN Foundation was invited by Mr. Amit Upadhyay of School of Public Policy & Governance, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Hyderabad to conduct organ donation awareness session at their college on 3rd September 2015. This session was organized as a guest lecture to the students of Public Policy, Social Work, and Social Change as part of community outreach program for the students.

The session began with students introducing the speaker and later on introducing the concept of organ donation. Dr. Koti Reddy explained the purpose, necessity, importance, complex issues in deceased organ donation, concept of brain death, cultural and religious barriers, THO Act and myths related to organ donation and the role of youth in promoting organ donation.

There were about 60 students that attended the program and all of them were distributed donor cards and information brochures. The college students responded positively to the idea and have promised to spread awareness about organ donation. Some of them were surprised that organ donation pledging process is so simple and have pledged to preserve the card with them.

We thank Mr. Amit Upadhyay of School of Public Policy & Governance, TISS, Hyderabad for his kind support in organizing this awareness session and also thank all the students for their support.
