MOHAN Foundation Conducts an Awareness Session on Organ Donation at Mahatma Gandhi University, Nalgonda

  • On 7th October 2015, MOHAN Foundation was invited by Mr. Clement Abraham of Mahatma Gandhi University, Nalgonda to conduct organ donation awareness session at university. This session was organized by National Service Scheme team as part of community outreach program for the students of the university.

     

    The session began with students unveiling Rangoli supporting organ donation, introducing the guests and speakers. Ms. Aruna Priya, Principal, UCASS, MGU introduced the concept of organ donation to the students. Dr. Koti Reddy explained the purpose, necessity, importance, complex issues in deceased organ donation, concept of brain death, cultural and religious barriers, THO Act and myths related to organ donation and the role of youth in promoting organ donation.

     

    There were about 300 students that attended the program and all of them were distributed donor cards and information brochures. The social work students reacted positively to the idea and have promised to spread awareness about organ donation during camps in surrounding villages. Prof. Umesh Kumar, Registrar, MGU has requested to conduct similar awareness program every years to the students of MGU.

     

    We thank Mr. Clement Abraham, Mr. Akula Ravi, NSS program Coordinator and Ms. Aruna Priya for rendering their full support in organizing this awareness session and also thank all the students for their active participation.
