On 15th May 2017, MOHAN Foundation was invited by Ms. Neenu Vij, President of the Rotary Club Chandigarh to give awareness about organ donation & transplantation to their club members.
Rotary Club Chandigarh is involved in social and charitable activities and services for underprivileged in and around Chandigarh. In their new projects for 2017-18 Rotary has included organ donation as a new project. All activities for supporting organ donation will be done in collaboration with MOHAN Foundation.
The session was taken by Mr. Sudhir Dewan. He explained the concept of organ donation, brain death, myths & facts related to organ donation, statistics of the country in regard to organ donation, difference between natural death & brain death, types of donors, how Rotary can help to promote organ donation, were described in detail.
Mr. Dewan shared his own story of what he went through when his liver failed, How he got a new lease of life and how he was motivated to join the cause of organ donation.
Immediately after the session, a short meeting of Rotary Executive Committee members was conducted to discuss as to how to proceed with this project and how MOHAN Foundation will help them in their endeavour for increasing organ donation in Chandigarh.
