MOHAN Foundation Conducts Awareness Talk on Organ Donation at Centre for Social Work, Panjab University, Chandigarh

  • On 6th April 2018, MOHAN FOUNDATION was invited by Mr. Prashant Sharma Field Coordinator in Centre for Social Work Department, Panjab University, Chandigarh to conduct an awareness talk on Organ Donation for their First year Students (Master of Social work) at their department, Chandigarh. All the 30 students participated in the program.

     

    Mr. S K Dewan addressed the students telling them about how important is Organ Donation and it provides the opportunity to improve the quality of life and saving lives of others. It is the greatest gift one can ever give.

     

    Participants were given an introduction and presentation on organ donation and brain death by Ms. Aakriti Negi.

     

    In this talk she explained the following points: -

    • Organ donation types and who can be a donor
    • The status of Organ Donation in India and their requirements vs donation rates
    • She challenged 5 myths with 5 facts on Organ Donation
    • Difference between natural death and brain death
    • Age is not a constraint in donating their organs.
    • Real life stories of an organ transplant being shared with the participants
    • Importance of Donor card
    • To pledge their organs they can register at Mohan Foundation
    • MOHAN Foundation mission & vision

     

    All the students got motivated and convinced to support organ donation. Students did applaud in the end for the efforts taken by MOHAN Foundation.
