MFJCF Team Visits Tilwara Village to Honor Donor Family

Updated on Friday, February 27, 2015
  • On 20 February 2015, a contingent from the MOHAN Foundation Jaipur Citizen’s Forum (MFJCF) visited Tilwara village in Alwar District, Rajasthan, to honor the family members and loved ones of the state’s first deceased organ donor. The 7 year old boy met with an accident leading to brain death and the boy’s parents consented to organ donation, saying that their son must have done something wonderful in a previous life because now he was able to save the lives of others. Indeed, the lives of a 6 year old boy and a 51 year old man were saved with a liver transplant and “pediatric en-bloc” (two kidneys from a child into an adult) kidney transplant. The MFJCF contingent consisted of 15 members, including group leader Bhavna Jagwani, transplant facilitator Dilip Jain and transplant surgeon Dr. Christopher Barry. The donor family was felicitated in the presence of the entire village, including village elders and leaders.

It is so important to honor the donor family members. They are heroes just like their loved ones.
