Launch of kidney diseases prevention program at Rasoolpura Slums, Hyderabad

Updated on Thursday, July 28, 2016
  • There are 10 lakhs of Indians who have serious kidney problems, which go unnoticed at an early stage.  Out of this number, only 1,50,000 people are diagnosed with end stage kidney failure.  Only 4,000 people in Hyderabad receive dialysis.  When both the kidneys fail, most of them will be unable to get treated as they cannot afford it or there is not enough infrastructure.  Keeping this in mind, Care For Your Kidneys Foundation (CFYKF) was established to “screen, prevent and treat kidney diseases” and provide timely medication so that they don’t advance and completely fail.  In the past, Care for your Kidneys Foundation has worked in several urban  slums in Hyderabad.

On 4th June 2016, the “Kidney Diseases Prevention Program” was launched in Rasoolpura Slums.  In association with MOHAN Foundation and Rakshana Foundation, CFYKF did a medical camp starting 9 am and collected blood and urine samples, and did a BP check.

Men and women participated very enthusiastically in this camp.  All those that are found to have high sugar and high serum creatinine will be identified and provided free medical treatment.  We will continue to conduct these medical camps every Saturday in Rasoolpura.  It is said, “Prevention is better than Cure”.  We want to ensure that nobody suffers from kidney diseases unnecessarily, while it can be easily prevented and cured at an early stage.
