Information stall on organ donation at PIMS.

  • The International Society of Nephrology along with the department of Nephrology of Pondicherry Institute of Medical Science (PIMS)  and Madras Institute conducted a symposium on “Acid base and Electrolyte disorders” on 21st January 2017 at PIMS.

    The symposium focused on the increasing renal disorders and ways it can be controlled. Various speakers from Puducherry and Tamil Nadu presented their work. The post graduate students of various medical disciplines and the undergraduate students of various medical institutions and various medical practitioners from Puducherry and Tamil Nadu participated.

    At this event MOHAN Foundation participated and manned an information stall.  Organ donation brochures and donors card were displayed to the participants. Many medical students visited the stall and inquired about the donor card and pledged their organs. Queries of the participants were cleared. Mr. Ruban from MOHAN Foundation manned the information stall.

    We would like to thank Dr. Georgi Abraham, organizing chairman for the event for helping us in the event.  We would also like to thank “ASHWARIYA Trust” for supporting us.

    Questions asked by the participants?

    1. If I pledge and have the donor card, how will you know when I am dead?
    2. Difference between cardiac death and brain death?
