On 28th October 2017 MOHAN Foundation was invited by Nagpur Residential Hotel Association’s (NRHA) Secretary Mr. Tejinder Singh Renu for awareness regarding organ donation & transplantation for their members at Hotel Darshan Towers, Gandhibag, Nagpur. Office bearers like Shri Prakash Trivedi President, and Shri Santosh Gupta, Treasurer were present with other members.
Dr. Ravi Wankhede Director of MOHAN Foundation, Nagpur started with a brief introduction about MOHAN Foundation & ZTCC, Nagpur and its activities. He explained to the NRHA members about Organ donation and transplantation. It is a life-saving medical advancement. For patients with and stage organ failure the only treatment is organ donation and transplantation. He shared his own experience about his kidney donation.
Dr. Wankhede explained the concept of death and difference between cardiac death and brain death. Which tissue can be donated after natural death? Whice organ and tissue can be donated after brain death? What difference between coma and brain death? What is the time duration for organ donation and transplantation? He displayed some photos of organ donors who saved nearly 6 lives each.
Question asked by association members:
1) If someone is brain dead then how long can the patient be kept on ventilator?
2) Which organ & tissue can be donated after brain death?
3) If someone dies at home organ donation can possible or not?
After question answer session Mr. Tejinder Singh Renu gave a vote of thank to Dr. Ravi Wankhede and association members. More than 50 were presented 2 of them signed consent form and took donor cards.
