Games and debate to promote Organ Donation Awareness at Sri. Ramanujar Engineering College, Kolapakkam – Angels of Change – Impact

  • On 19th July 2017, the Angels of Change from Tagore Medical College organised an awareness session for students of Sri. Ramanujar Engineering College, Kolapakkam.   Mr. Siva Shankar and Mr. Jayaprakash Daniel from MOHAN Foundation participated in the awareness program. The program began at 11:00am and was attended by 200 students of 2nd year engineering. 

     

    At first the Angels distributed survey questionnaire and distributed Green colour ribbons symbolising the occasion.  Later they screened a film on organ donation which gave some insights on the topic. They presented the concepts through a slide presentation on organ donation which even motivated the audience.

     

    After the presentation, the Angels planned two activities – a quiz game called as CONNECTIONS based on Tamil Films with some aspects of Organ Donation in the story. This was a fun activity and made the students think how popular media can influence the minds of viewers; then the Angels had prespared a game of identify the celebrity  and relation to organ donation and a debate session which composed of 8 members debating on the pros and cons of Organ Donation, audience actively participated and took points with sincerity and enthusiasm.

     

    After all events, the team again distributed the survey questionnaires and evaluated the outcome of the program. Finally, Mr. Siva Shankar addressed the gathering by stressing the importance of pledging and supporting for organ donation and he also honoured the winners of various games through prizes. At the end of the session many actively came forward for pledging for organ donation.  43 students picked a donor card.  The program ended with vote of thanks rendered by Angels’ of Change member and thereafter feedback was received from the audience and management.

     

    MOHAN Foundation thanks the Angels for their effort and the Principal Mr. Chandramouli and Mr. Udhaykumar, Professor at Sri Ramanujar College for giving the opportunity to speak to the students.
