Family organises Awareness Program on Organ Donation in father’s memory

  Mr. Balaji, son of late Shri. Madhava Rao invited MOHAN Foundation  to conduct was an awareness program on Organ Donation on 20^th December 2017. The family also runs AIMS (All India Movement for Service), an NGO at Vyasarpadi, Chennai. Mr. Siva Shankar, Helpline Executive, Mr. N. Raja, and Mr. G. Santhosh Kumar, Transplant Coordinators represented MOHAN Foundation. This was part of 14^th day memorial for Mr. Madhava Rao.

  Mr. Kuselar, President of Ulaikkum Makkal Mandram, Mr. Vellaiyan, President of Tamilnadu Viyaparikal Sangam and Mr. T.S.S. Mani, Rescue Coordinator of the Movement of Rights felicitated the gathering. Mr. Balaji, Adient, USA welcomed MOHAN Foundation members and explained that as his father late Shri. Madhava Rao donated his eyes, he decided to arrange Organ Donation awareness for his community.

  Mr. N. Raja started the session by small introduction about MOHAN Foundation, Organ Donation, types of donors, organs that can be donated, organs and its functions, myths of Organ Donation and the value of carrying DONOR card.

  The session went for 20 minutes. Questions asked by people after the session:

  1. Only registered people can donate or anybody can donate?
  2. We have to register for eye donation separately in eye banks?
  3. How the skin can be used?
  4. If we registered means, is it compulsion to donate organs?

  There were 150 people who attended the memorial service and 31 pledged their organs for donation and picked a donor card. MOHAN Foundation thanked Mr. Balaji and his brother Mr. Ranga Babu for their support.
