Drivers learn about organ donation at Transport Office in Nagpur

• Drivers and vehicle owners were in for a surprise when they visited the RTO at Giripet in Nagpur.  Mr. Sharad Jighkar, Regional Transport Office, Giripeth, Nagpur had invited MOHAN foundation to conduct an awareness session on organ donation in his training hall on 26 May 2017.  Mr. Bulu Behera, Transplant coordinator, MOHAN Foundation, Nagpur delivered a talk on Organ Donation.   In his talk he explained for following points:-

  • What are Organ Donation and the Law?
  • Who can donate organ?
  • Type of organ donation.
  • Brain Death Natural Death and Coma.
  • Myths related to Organ donation.
  • Deceased donation case in Nagpur.
  • Kidney transplant hospital in Nagpur.
  • Importance of Donor card, Helpline number and website.

  It was a very interactive session. 20 drivers were present at the talk.2 drivers signed consent form and took donor cards.

  The drivers asked the following questions:-

  • Where is MOHAN Foundation office in Nagpur?
  • After natural death what can be donated?
