Change maker’s pledging to bring a change

  • Tremors Club of Sona College of Technology, Salem initiated a campaign on organ donation. The objective of the campaign is to spread the message among the younger generation in and around Salem. The club members organised the following competitions for the students on the theme of  organ donation.

    1.      Elocution

    2.      Street theatre

    3.      Mime

    4.      Dance

    5.      Multimedia

    225 students participated in the competition. They had preliminary rounds from 7th to 10th January 2013 and the finalists performed on 17th January 2013. Tremors Club invited MOHAN Foundation to deliver a talk on organ donation. Tremors Club invited Mr. Eswarlal - EEE HOD, acting Principal, Mr. Lakshmanan - Staff coordinator, Mr. Pratheep Antony – Chairman, Tremors club, Mr. Saran – Secretary, Tremors club and Ms. Veena, Senior transplant coordinator, MOHAN Foundation to inaugurate the function. Ms. Veena then briefed the students on concepts of organ donation, tissue donation and blood donation. She shared real life stories of organ donation and screened promotional videos.

     

    250 students participated in the programme and expressed their support for organ donation. The Tremors Club members have decided to initiate similar awareness programmes in nearby villages to promote organ and tissue donation.
