Cafeteria becomes a place of learning at RR Donelley, Chennai

  • MOHAN Foundation was invited by   RRDonelley to give an awareness talk for their employees in their offices at Mylapore (13 Oct 2014) and Nandanam (14 Oct 2014). This was the culmination of their month long in-house initiative done by a group called Sanjeevani. MOHAN Foundation gave inputs in the development of their campaign. Dr. Hemal Kanvinde and Ms. Kavitha S. Marketing Coordinator represented MOHAN Foundation.

     

    The programmes started at 4.30 pm in the cafeteria with a welcome address given by Mr. Rajakumar to more than 50 employees who were gathered in the cafeteria.  While taking a break from their work and between sips of tea and coffee they heard the following:

     

    • Importance and need of organ donation
    • Types of donations – live and deceased donation
    • Difference between Natural Death, Coma and Brain Death
    • Organs and tissues  that can be donated in cardiac death and brain death
    • Preservation time of organs
    • Importance of Donor card, helpline number and website
    • TNOS website and Transplant Registry
    • Real heroes of Tamil Nadu

     

    The participants raised queries about who should be contacted in case of emergency, organ sharing and allocation, contraindications in donating organs and tissues.

    There was discussion on the authenticity of the wait list, clarity in organ sharing and does religion play a role in pledging and consent..  

    In the first venue 60 people attended and in the second venue 50 people attended. Everyone was given the information brochure. Around 250 employees pledged through the online option.
