CME on Brain death and organ donation at Max Hospital, Shalimar Bagh, New Delhi

  • On February 24, 2015, a CME on brain death and organ donation was held in the seminar hall, Max Hospital, Shalimar Bagh, New Delhi in association with MOHAN Foundation.

     

    This was the second CME in Max Hospital, Shalimar Bagh along the same lines as requested by the hospital that demonstrates its interest and the passion towards the cause.

     

    Prior to the welcome address, Dr. Muneet Sahi (Senior Transplant Coordinator-MOHAN Foundation) answered the queries of the participants pertaining to her experiences and difficulties faced in the field especially when approaching the donor families.

     

    The CME started off with a welcome address by Dr. Archana Bajaj (Medical Superintendent-Max Hospital, Shalimar Bagh). Following that videos explaining what is brain death and how to diagnose brain death were screened that were well received by the participants.

     

    Dr. Anant Kumar, HOD & Director, Urology Dept. Max Hospital, Saket spoke on the legal aspects of brain death and the THOA Act. It proved to be a very resourceful session as he cleared numerous queries of all those attending the session and also cited anecdotes and his real life experiences that made it more interesting.

     

    Towards the end a video on best practices in approaching donor families was screened.

     

    25 doctors attended the session.
