Updated on Monday, November 21, 2016
  • MOHAN Foundation was invited by Mr. Sajith Kumar, Sr. General Manager – HR & Administration to conduct an awareness session for the employees of Kanakia on 19th November, 2016.

Mrs. Jaya Jairam started the talk by explaining what? When? Who? and How Organ Donation is done?

She then spoke about the transplantation procedure. She briefly focused on the need for organs, India’s organ donation rate, brain stem death, its diagnoses and certification, cornea donation, skin donation, and the tissues that can be donated on cardiac and brain stem death.  She also touched upon some of the barriers and myths related to organ donation and explained the Laws and Entity of Maharashtra.

She further spoke about the gap between the demand and supply of organs in our country, which justifies the need to donate organs. The talk also focused on the low organ donation rate of our country (0.50 pmp) which is less than 1 person per million populations.

The employees actively participated with a number of questions being asked and satisfactorily answered.

Lastly the employees were shown a 2 minute video on how One Donor can saved Many Lives and that death is not the end.

Around 7 of them pledged their organs and others picked up the flyers.

We wish to convey our heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Hiral Kanakia and Mr. Sajith Kumar for their wonderful initiative in supporting the cause.
