On February 25, 2017, MOHAN Foundation was invited to conduct an awareness session on organ donation at STIC Travel Group, Cyber Greens, DLF Phase-lll, Gurugram. The talk was initiated by Mr. Shivam Sarmah, Manager-Inbound Tours since he is an ardent supporter of the cause and has pledged his organs. Ms. Gunjan Desai, Head HR took the responsibility of coordinating and organising the session.
STIC Travels Pvt. Ltd. was established in 1973. STIC Group is one of the largest travel groups in India with offices in all major cities across the country. It represents about twenty of the world’s best travel, aviation, tourism, cruise and hotel brands exclusively in India.
Dr Muneet began the session by introducing MOHAN Foundation and its activities. Then a short film on brain stem death was shown to the group to get their inputs on the film and whether anyone knew that organ donation can only be considered in such a condition. No one in the group knew about it.
The difference between coma and brain death, cardiac death, eye donation, solid organs & tissue donation, myths versus reality check around organ donation and THO Act was explained in detail to the participants. The process of pledging one's organs by filling up the donor card and sharing one's wish to donate organs upon death with the family members was also stressed upon.
Around 30 people attended the session and 20 donor cards were picked up.
