A public awareness session was conducted on July 28, 2014 in the premises of Lazer Ken IT Services India Pvt Ltd, Gurgaon by the MOHAN Foundation (Delhi-NCR).
Lazer Ken is a pioneering sheet metal fabrication company initially set up in Spain in 1990. It has carved a niche for itself in the metal industry with its fast and effective solutions in using laser as a flexible tool to alter sheet metal for varied applications.
This was the second session of the three sessions planned at Lazer Ken for three consecutive Mondays starting from 21/7/2014 and ending on 4/8/2014 for employees of different shifts. Ms. Rupali Dagat, Senior Executive Assistant to the Director, Lazer Ken introduced the team from MOHAN Foundation, Delhi-NCR following which Ms. Pallavi Kumar, Executive Director (Delhi-NCR) took over as the main speaker of the session. She started off with a pre awareness survey to gauge what amount of prior information the participants had about organ donation and based on this, she put across the facts and figures with the help of a PowerPoint presentation. She stressed on the importance of understanding the circumstances surrounding Brain death and the tests prescribed to clarify it. She also informed the participants about the terms and conditions of the Transplant of Human Organs Act. She maintained a bilingual conversation throughout the session explaining the terms as and when necessary both in English and Hindi.
The presentation was followed by an interaction session where questions regarding the laws surrounding the removal of the patient from the ventilator were discussed. About 35 participants attended the session and 19 people took donor cards.
