On 27 October 2016, Pradeep Astankar Scientific Assistant at the Regional Forensic Science Laboratory, Dhantoli, Nagpur invited MOHAN Foundation to conduct an awareness program on organ donation for the staff.
Mr. Bulu Behera Transplant Coordinator, Nagpur center gave a talk through audio-visual aids & the spoke about the difference between cardiac death, coma and brain death, which organs can be donated after cardiac death and brain death. The importance of donor card how it helps people to donate organs, value of wearing a helmet, need for organs, the legal and ethical aspects of organ donation and the process of pledging to organs were also explained. He informed the laboratory staff about the process of organ donation and about Medico legal cases and how the forensic doctors play an important role. He requested the participants to use MOHAN Foundation website and helpline number to learn more about organ donation.
