Awareness Talk on Organ Donation for housekeeping staff at Apollo Hospital, Mumbai

  • On 19th April 2018, MOHAN Foundation Mumbai was invited at Apollo Hospital, Mumbai by Mr. Anoop Unnikrishnan, HOD - Housekeeping Department, to conduct an awareness talk on Organ Donation for all the housekeeping staff in their department.

    The session began with Mrs. Jigisha Yadav asking them, what occurred to their minds when they thought of Organ Donation.  There were many positive and a few negative responses.

    Mrs. Jigisha Yadav introduced MOHAN Foundation, its mission, vision and history to the staff. The concept of organ donation was introduced, types of organs and tissues that can be donated, types of death, the concept of brain death, difference between brain death and comma.  She also discussed the various myths and facts for organ donation. Information about organ allocation, and distribution were also shared.

    Around 25 staff members (day shift) were present. We thank Mr. Anoop  Unnikrishnan for inviting us and supporting the cause of Organ Donation. We have also been requested to conduct similar awareness talks for their afternoon shift and night shifts staff.
