Awareness Talk at Uni Style Image, Delhi

Updated on Wednesday, January 30, 2013
  • Uni Style Image (USI)- a leading brand for classic casual wear invited the team of MOHAN Foundation for an awareness session on Organ Donation on 25th January 2013.

The participants were predominantly factory workers, hence the session was conducted in Hindi. It covered all the aspects related to organ donation and Transplant like the Need, Requirement vis-à-vis availability, definition of brain death and situations when it occurs, the potential pool of organ donors, how can one become an organ donor and the myths and misconceptions to pledging or donating ones organs. Different queries like which hospital should we go to if we require an organ, what if our relatives are not informed on time in case of an accident and the organs don’t remain viable etc were handled effectively.

The MD of the company Mr.Singh, drew a significant analogy to donation stating that when we donate 10 Rs to a beggar on the road, we are not aware whether he eats a meal or takes drugs, but when we donate organs we are sure that many lives are going to be saved out of this gesture. Hence he urged more and more people to pledge their organs out of their own will by assuring that it will not have any positive or negative bearing on the employees’ association with the company.

About 80 participants were tapped and 50 donor cards distributed at the end of the session.

About USI’s initiatives- USI believes in addressing pressing issues of global importance today, through the USI ENVIRO CLUB- an engaging cause where they work with support and praise from organizations like UNODC & WWF. They undertake activities for the underprivileged, Anti-tobacco movements, use of FSC certified paper etc. In line with the concept of ‘Recycle Yourself’, they plan to take up Organ Donation in a big way in the near future.
