Awareness Session on organ donation at Asian Institute of Medical Sciences, Faridabad

  • On December 17, 2014, MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness session on organ donation at Asian Institute of Medical Sciences, Faridabad.

     

    Asian Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), a 350 bed super specialty hospital is an NABH and NABL accredited hospital that provides preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic, rehabilitative, palliative and support services all under one roof and is designed to meet patient care and research requirements of the new millennium.

     

    The session, organised by Dr. Ramesh Chandna ( Director, Safety and Quality Laboratory Services Blood Bank) was held in the auditorium of Asian Institute of Medical Sciences, Faridabad. 

     

    The session started with Dr. Muneet asking the participants that how many of them have heard of organ donation and brain death. She then explained the concepts of organ donation and transplantation primarily focusing on the types of donations, how to diagnose brain death, tissue donation and the Transplant law of India. She concluded the session by showing a short film on brain death. She also appealed to the participants to focus their efforts on promoting cornea donation in the hospital.

     

    130 participants attended the session and 100 donor cards were picked up.
