Awareness Session on Organ Donation for Lions Club Panchkula Premier at Hotel Crownwest, Mohali, Punjab

  • On June 4, 2018 MOHAN Foundation was invited by Mr. Ikesh Pal Singh Member of Lions Club Panchkula Premier to conduct an awareness talk on organ donation at Hotel Crownwest, Phase 11, Mohali, Punjab for the students from various schools of Chandigarh and Mohali along with the Lions Club dignitaries participated in the program.

    Lion Shiny Taneja (Secretary) addressed the audience telling them about how important is Organ Donation and it provides the opportunity to improve the quality of life and saving lives of others. It is the greatest gift one can ever give.

    Participants were given an introduction and presentation on organ donation and brain death by Ms. Aakriti Negi.

    In her talk she explained the following points: -

    • Organ donation types and who can be a donor
    • The status of Organ Donation in India and their requirements vs donation rates
    • She challenged 5 myths with 5 facts on Organ Donation
    • Difference between natural death and brain death
    • Age is not a constraint in donating their organs.
    • Real life stories of an organ transplant being shared with the participants and how they became a legacy
    • Importance of Donor card
    • To pledge their organs they can register at MOHAN Foundation
    • MOHAN Foundation’s mission & vision

     

    Few questions were asked by the participants

    • What is body donation?
    • Why in India family consent is so important?

     

    All the questiones were answered and all the participants picked up a donor card. The entire audience got motivated and was an interactive session with their students. The awareness talk ended with a vote of thanks by Lion Parvinder Singh, Leo Arshpreet Kaur (President) and Leo Lavisha Bashambu (Secretary). In the end they showed great interest and would like to do more programs with MOHAN Foundation. Special thanks to Mr Ikesh Pal Singh for inviting MOHAN Foundation.
