Awareness Session on Organ Donation at M.R.A Senior Secondary Model School, Sector 27-A, Chandigarh

  • On 17th May 2018, MOHAN Foundation was invited by Mrs Saroj Savant, Principal, M.R.A Senior Secondary Model School, Sector 27-A, Chandigarh to conduct an awareness talk on Organ Donation for their NSS Students. Approximately 40 students from class 12th attended the session. 

     

    Mr. Manoj Kalia, PGT Physical Education addressed the students and gave a brief introduction on Organ Donation to their students. Students were given an introduction & presentation on how important is Organ donation and tissue donation and too many people waiting for transplant by Ms. Aakriti Negi.

     

    In this talk she explained the following points: -

    • Organ donation types and who can be a donor
    • The status of Organ Donation in India and their requirements vs donation rates
    • She challenged 5 myths with 5 facts on Organ Donation
    • Difference between natural death and brain death
    • Age is not a constraint in donating their organs.
    • Real life stories of an organ transplant being shared with the participants
    • Importance of Donor card
    • To pledge their organs they can register at MOHAN Foundation
    • MOHAN Foundation mission & vision

     

    All the students got motivated and convinced to support organ donation. Students did applaud in the end for the efforts taken by MOHAN Foundation.

    Few questions were asked by the students

    1. In which case organ cannot be transplanted?

    2. How skin can be donated?

     

    All the questioned have been answered in the end and they would love to share their wish with their family members.
