Apollo Hospitals, Navi Mumbai organizes CME on Organ Donation and NTORC Facilitation

  • On 8th December 2017, MOHAN Foundation was invited to the CME on Organ Donation and NTORC facilitation organized by Apollo Hospitals, Navi Mumbai for intensivists from neighbouring hospitals in Navi Mumbai.

    The programme included the following talks –

    1. Overview of Transplantation by Prof. Dr. Darius Mirza, Head, HPB and Transplant Surgeon, Apollo Hospitals, Navi Mumbai
    2. Transplantation of Human Organ Act and Role of ZTCC by Dr. S K Mathur, Gen Sec and Vice President, ZTCC Mumbai
    3. Diagnosing Brain Death by Dr. Aklesh Tandekar, Consultant, Intensive Care, Apollo Hospitals, Navi Mumbai
    4. Management of Deceased Organ Donor by Dr. Suresh Vasanth, Lead Consultant, Anaesthesia (HPB), Apollo Hospitals, Navi Mumbai
    5. Audit of Potential Brain Dead Donors at Apollo Hospitals, Navi Mumbai by Dr. Tushar Parmar, Consultant, Intensive Care, Apollo Hospitals, Navi Mumbai
    6. Role of Transplant Coordinator by Mr. Prakash Saindane, Transplant Coordinator, Apollo Hospitals, Navi Mumbai
    7. Pathways for Organ Donation in Medico-legal Cases by Mr. Tushar Doshi, DCP Crime, Navi Mumbai Police
    8. NTORC – Process of Application/Approval by Dr. Pravin Shingare, Director of Medical Education, Govt. of Maharashtra

    Sessions were chaired by Dr. Kalyani Sen, Medical Superintendent, MGM Hospital Vashi, Dr. Chandrasekhar T, Internal Medicine Specialist from Fortis Hiranandani Hospital Vashi, Dr. Bharat Jagiasi, Treasurer, ISCCM.

    Intensivists from 15-20 neighbouring hospitals were part of the programme.

    Towards the end of the programme, Dr. Darius Mirza introduced Ms. Vaidehi Patil, Transplant Coordinator from MOHAN Foundation Mumbai who will working in the Navi Mumbai region in enhancing public awareness and grief counselling.
