MOHAN Foundation team went to Anna Adarsh Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Chennai for conducting second session of ‘Angles of Change’ volunteer training program on 15th July 2017. The training started at the school premises by 8:30am for the 25 Angels. Dr. Hemal Kanvinde, Mr. Siva Shankar and Mr. Jayaprakash Daniel conducted the training.
Dr. Hemal began by small recap of previous session which boosted the ‘Angels’ to proceed to next level of training. After the revision there was a video screening of a recepient’s testimony by Mrs. Sushma Sinde who received a kidney after 4 years. The participants were asked to write a ‘Thank you Letter’ as though Sushma is writing to her donor. This activity provoked students’ interest on how a recipient will feel after getting diseased organ transplanted. After this activity a donor story of a Chennai school student was read out and the students were very touched by the story.
On the first day of the training the students were made into four groups. Each group was asked to present their ideas, posters, presentations and plans for creating awareness in the school. The MOHAN Foundation team guided the students to improve and finalise their plans.
The Public Speaking Team had to practice their presentation on Organ Donation and Transplantation which was supervised by Mr. Siva Shankar and their teacher. The Poster team was asked to present their posters and suggestions were given by Mr. Jaiprakash. The team undertaking a Public Survey also underwent separate training on how to do sample collection, analysis of data, interpretation and consolidation. Dr Hemal guided the events team to conduct events in the school.
At the end of each session presentation Mr. Siva Shankar guided the students by clarifying their doubts and helped them on skills like loud tone, eye contact, usage of slides etc. Finally the session ended with directions for arrangement of full length program.
