Angels of Change Volunteer Training Program at PN Dhawan Adarsh Vidhyalaya, Royapettah – Day 1.

  • MOHAN Foundation conducted an “Angels of Change” volunteer training program with PN Dhawan Adarsh Vidyalaya, Royapettah on 22nd June 2017 at 01:30pm. Dr. Hemal Kanvinde and Mr. Siva Shankar conducted the program for 29 students of  11th standard  NSS volunteers.

    Dr. Hemal Kanvinde explained about the activities of MOHAN Foundation and why MOHAN Foundation is conducting “Angels of Change” program. She gave detailed information on these topics so that students were able to understand why they were part of the program. Each volunteer was given a Resource manual and a Resource CD to enable them to conduct independent awareness sessions.

    Mr. Siva Shankar started by explaining about Organ Donation and its need in today’s society. The topics that were discussed were organs that can be donated, when and why organs are donated, what is Brain Death, the difference between Brain Death and Coma and the age criteria of the organs for organ donation. In between the presentation some fun facts were discussed so that students were interested in listening to the presentation.

    Followed by Dr. Hemal Kanvinde explained about the functions of Brain Stem and other parts of the brain. The difference between brain death and coma.

    The students were divided into 4 groups to make the students get an idea on how a public awareness program is done or what are the other ideas on how to take forward about the importance of Organ Donation.

    A quiz was conducted by Mr. Siva Shankar in general about organ donation, the students were able to answer the questions.

    Session ended with a Vote of thanks speech by the Mrs. Prameela, Principal of the school as she was very happy that the students were able to learn a new thing in their school life.
