A Resident Association in Trivandrum conducts Awareness on Organ Donation

  • On 10th November, 2013 an awareness talk on organ donation was organized by Ambadi Nagar Resident Association, Sreekaryam, Trivandrum. The association members invited Mrithasanjeevani, Kerala Network for Organ Sharing (KNOS) to deliver a talk on Organ Donation to educate the association members. The programme started with welcome speech delivered by Mr. Sreedaranpotti, President, Resident Association. Later Mrs. Cini V. R, Ward Councillor, Sreekaryam, addressed the gathering. 

     

    Mr. Aneesh P. V, Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation, deputed to Mrithasanjeevani, Kerala, conducted the session on organ donation. The topics discussed during talk were: What is organ donation, importance of organ donation, types of donation, brain death, coma and natural death, procedures included in brain death donation, religious myths on organ donation, Mrithasanjeevani and KNOS registry,  importance of donor card.

     

    Around 30 members were participated in the programme. Some queries raised by the participants were:

    1. How to register for Kidney transplantation.

    2. Role of Mrithasanjeevani in organ allocation.

     

    At the end, donor card were distributed to the participants, all the participants pledged their organs by signing the donor card. The programme ended with vote of thanks rendered by Mr. Shanavas, Secretary, Ambadi Nagar, Resident Association.
